1. LEAGUE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
 ¡Entry fee is $550 per team per season for the 2013 season   
¡Umpires and uniforms are the responsibility of each team
¡Each team is required to sell a minimum of $200 of raffle tickets
¡Championship prize is $400 
 
2. ROSTER
 ¡Full roster due  May 21, 2013.  All rosters will be posted on the web-site.  
 ¡Add/drop weeks, also known as "open week"     
   June 17 - June 21  Add or delete people from the roster.  Prior June 17th  
   and anytime after June 21st, no alterations to the roster can be made.  
   (Exceptions to rule will be considered and approved by Pam and Fig ONLY) 
 ¡Non-roster players are ineligible.  The use of a non-roster player will constitute a forfeit. 
 
3.  START OF GAME
¡Blatz and any other non-lighted field.
-- start time 6:30
-- a 10 minute grace period is allowed until the 9th player has arrived.  
¡Vets
-- start time 6:30, 7:45, and 9:05.
-- a 10 minute grace period is allowed until the 9th player has arrived.  If the first game starts at 
   6:40, the second game start time will be 7:55, and the third will be 9:15.
  -- there will be no grace period for games slated in the 7:45 and 9:05 time slots.
** 9:05 games have no time limit as there is no game after. Should the lights go out and the game has not been completed, as long as 5 innings have been played then it will be considered a Complete Game.  If 5 innings have not been played then play will resume in the inning in which the lights were shut off and game will be played through 7 innings unless a mercy rule is enforced.
4.  TO START A GAME
¡One umpire must be present.
¡Each team needs 9 eligible players to start the game.  
 If any team has less than 9 players and the 10 minute grace period has expired, the game will be a
forfeit.  A winner is declared.  The team that has enough to field a team is considered the winner.
The decision is final regardless of the opposing captain's flexibility.
¡Field conditions must be playable.  This is up to the discretion of the umpire.
¡A 10th player can only be added to the line-up before the end of the first inning.  Once the final out 
is made in the bottom half of the inning, the inning is considered over.
5.  EXTRA HITTER RULE
¡WWSL rule allows (1) extra EH / DH.  Original line up can have up to 12 people.
Note:If a player is injured or has to leave the game, the substitution rule applies.  If a
substitute is not available, then the spot that is vacated in the line-up will be 
an automatic out.
6.  ELIGIBILITY
¡Each player must be a high school graduate and/or 18 years old.  High School seniors can be on the 
roster, but are not eligible to play until after they graduate.
7.  UMPIRES
¡If umpires do not show up for a scheduled game, call  Joe Guinan@ 781-246-4030.  Usually an umpire will
be dispatched.  But if an umpire still doesn't show, both team reps will call a League Director and
the game will be rescheduled.
¡Umpire fees for 2013 are $27 each per umpire if 2 umpires are present 
and $40 for 1 umpires to be split by both teams
8.  MAKE-UP GAMES
¡League Directors will reschedule any rainouts.  Rainouts will be scheduled in order of 
what team is rained out first and will be scheduled for the following Wednesday at Blatz.
If all games are rained out in one night an email will be sent advising when the games are reschedule to the 
corresponding Wed and/or Monday. It is possible that make-up games will be played on Sunday mornings.
9.  SCORES / SCOREBOOK
¡Each team is responsible for their own scorebook.
¡The home team is considered the official scorebook.
¡Both teams must call in scores ASAP to their respective Board Director.
¡First name, last name, and position must be used when writing in the lineup.
¡Scorebooks will be turned in and verified at the end of the season
10.  PROTESTS
Play Protests
¡A protest must be taken up with the umpire before the next pitch if the protest is related to
the previous play.
Game Protests
¡A game can be protested at anytime, even if the game is complete.
I.E.  An ineligible or illegal player was used.
a.  The team that is protesting must notify Pam Anastas or Kim Figueira that same night.
11.  RAINOUTS / DARKNESS
¡2013 League officers (Pam Anastas / Kim Figueira) ONLY will make call on rain outs if it has been raining all day.  
a. In the event game will be cancelled due to inclement weather, a call will be made to team reps before 5:15PM for 6:30PM start times.
b.If team rep does not receive call, consider game on at that point it is up to the Umpires
¡A game is considered complete after 5 full innings.
This will apply to rain shortened games or in the case of darkness.
¡Vets Field light situation
If the lights a Vets Field go out and calling the Light Department doesn't get then restored,
the following would then apply.
a. If the game in question has completed 5 innings of play, then the game
would be considered a complete game.  All innings that have been completed
will be counted towards the final score.  Any partial innings will not count.
The team leading will be declared the winner.
b.If the game in question has completed 5 innings of play and the score is tied, then
the game will be considered a tie game and will not be completed.  All innings that have
been completed will be counted towards the final score.  Any partial innings will not count.
Hopefully the Light Department will be understanding with this situation.  Please be aware that there 
are 3 games played at Vets on Tuesdays and Fridays and if teams could play at a reasonable pace, this
would help prevent this situation from taking place.

12.  SOFTBALLS
¡1 new game ball per game will be provided - home team is responsible for supplying new game ball, visitors are 
responsible for providing the back-up game ball
13.  UNSPORTSMAN-LIKE CONDUCT
¡Judgment of NSA umpire.  However, appropriate and responsible actions by all WWSL members
will be appreciated.  Review NSA rules for more guidelines.
14.  SLAUGHTER RULE
¡A game is considered complete if a team is leading by 12 or more runs and
5 complete innings have been played.
15.  FORFEITS
¡All games that are forfeited, the forfeiting team is held accountable for all umpire fees.
  
16.  COURTESY FORFEIT
¡A  7 day notice to Pam Anastas or Kim Figueira is required for a courtesy forfeit.  The forfeiting
team will receive a loss, while the other team will get the win.  A score of 7 - 0 will be recorded.
¡As done in the past, if for some reason a team can not be fielded for a scheduled game, notification
to Pam Anastas and Kim Figueira is required prior to 3 PM the day of the game. Once they are contacted (real voice), the umpires will be 
notified.  The team that can not field a team will forfeit the game and may not be required to pay the umpires.
17.  PLAYOFF
¡Top four teams will be eligible for the playoffs, and remaining teams eligible for "Best of the Rest" tournament".
¡All playoff games started and not completed because of weather conditions or darkness will be continued 
on the next available time slot
¡All playoff games will play at least 7 innings unless the mercy rule comes in to play.
18.  PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY
¡Any person on the roster needs to play in 1/2 of the league games (i.e. 9 games) to participate in the playoffs.  Only
players that are eligible for playoffs will be eligible for post-season awards.
¡Team reps will be required to turn in scorebooks to validate playoff eligible persons.  Scorebooks will be
cross-referenced to corresponding game opponent's book.
19.  REGULAR SEASON GAMES
¡If during the regular season teams play on odd number of head to head games, then the odd game
would be a flip of the coin to determine home team.
20.  BLATZ FIELD - EXTRA INNINGS
¡All regular season games tied at the regulation - 7 innings - will play one additional inning.  The location
of the field, whether the field has lights, or if a game is not schedule to follow the game being played has no 
impact on this rule.  All games will be equal if all fields/games have the same structured rules.
21.  SCHEDULE
¡With the additional field usage fees, WWSL pays for the use of the field regardless if it is being used.  All schedules
will be condensed and games will be played to fit every field slot.  Be prepared to play on every time slot 
especially when transitioning from the regular season schedule to the playoff schedule.
22.  Courtesy Runner       
            
 ¡Courtesy runners are not allowed.      
  If player is injured or can not run for any reason, you must follow the rules of substitution in compliance
  with WWSL standards.
